It's always funny to think that Mather's is a speakeasy when there is always a line around the block. There's a reasons for that. This spot is unlike any other place in Orlando. Inside, decor will take you back to the prohibition era. It's located inside a 130-year old building that survived a fire, one of the oldest standing buildings in all of Downtown Orlando. If that's not enough of a reason to visit and grab a drink, then maybe their great Happy Hour is just what you need.
They have one of the most straight-forward Happy Hours and that's much appreciated. Half off drinks from the menu, as simple as that. There are a few minor exclusions, but the vast majority of cocktails are included. And trust me, you'll want to end up trying every single one. There are plenty of different types that will please all types of tastes.
Mijenta Tequila, All Spice Dram, Cardimaro, House-made Passion Fruit Syrup, Fresh Squeezed Lime Juice
Refreshing take on a margarita with Passion Fruit. All Spice adds an interesting touch to the drink and ties the flavors together nicely.
Don Q Cristal, Watermelon, Lime, Mathers Simple Blend, and Mint
Spiked watermelon juice is how I would describe this one. The lime was nowhere to be found and the mint was very faint as it only came from the garnish. Definitely a refreshing, but somewhat boring, summer cocktail.
Bumbu, Coconut Rum, and Chocolate Bitters
Smooth combination of coconut rum and nutmeg flavor from Bumbu. Chocolate bitter ties it all well together to finish it off. A dark and smooth drink.
Disaronno Amaretto, Kahlua, Half & Half, and A Dash of Cinnamon
Creamy and with a subtle yet just the perfect amount of almond, the Toasted Almond goes down easy. A little too easy. The cinnamon on rounds off every sip with a nice aroma. A drink you can enjoy sipping on a much as looking at.
Hendricks Gin, St. Germaine, Lemon, and Strawberries
I kid you not this is the best lemon-strawberry cocktail I have ever had. Just like the other ones, it's perfectly balanced. But it is also a reminder what so many other cocktail using the same ingredients could be. With a nice garnish, and using the lemon's pulp to compliment its looks, Strawberry Fields truly has got it all. Definitely a crowd-pleaser.
Hendricks Gin, Cucumber House Blend, Cucumber, Mint, Lime, and Fizzy water
Such a refreshing cocktail. Not much of a fizz to it but it can definitely do without it. Perfect mix of cucumber and basil, very well balanced. Just the right amount of sweetness. A no-brainer.
Gin, House-Made Blueberry Basil Mix, Lime, and Fizzy Water
Nice and pleasant blueberry flavor without being too sweet. Floral notes from the gin paired with the fruit flavor gave the drink a perfectly balanced taste. All with a nice garnish.
Brokers Gin, Ground Lavender, Honey Simple Blend, Lemon, and Half & Half
The best thing about Bathtub Gin is its presentation. It's a creamy drink with floral notes from the Lavender and botanical taste from the Gin. If you like that drink profile, then this one is for you, otherwise I'd steer clear.
